Digital Preservation Project
“No matter where you live, we are all in the membership of this small group of people that we call a county. The difference is not a matter of who's in and who's out; it's a matter of whether you know that you are a continuation of something bigger than yourself. We are all a part of the life and history of the place.”
The Iosco County mission is to preserve our history, not just the early 1900s, because history was yesterday. 2 years ago, we invested heavily in preserving our archives and digitally storing them. To date, we have digitally achieved over 12,000 photos and documents in this database. Once we archive the museum's artifacts, we will be reaching out to other local history groups, high schools, and the public to archive their history as well in a central database that will be available at the museum or online.
Who can use this database? The simple answer is everyone. The general public, researchers, and educators. But we need your help. The total budget for this project is around $14,000, and to date, we have raised $5,000 through generous donations from the public. This money will complete the purchase of the equipment and software needed to complete this project and grow it. Your tax-deductible contributions to our non-profit historical society will help us complete this important mission. Check out our members section to see our "Bronze" member benefits.
